On April 17-18, 2017 a four-member panel from the Higher Learning Commission visited the campus and held 17 meetings, including three open forums, a student-only forum, and focused meetings in which more than 450 faculty, staff, students and administrators participated.
UAMS accreditation was reaffirmed with the next reaffirmation of accreditation in 2026-27. UAMS will have a comprehensive evaluation as part of a mid-cycle review on March 1-2, 2021.
UAMS is required to have HLC accreditation in order to allow credits and degrees to be transferred from other accredited higher education institutions and to ensure professional licensure for UAMS graduates. Accreditation is also required before students can receive federal financial aid.
